‘This Italian holiday location is cheap but feels luxurious’
When you think about Italy, you may ponder the more expensive parts – Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Sicily, the bucket list goes on.
However, there are parts of Italy that are cheaper, but still have that gorgeous ‘boujee’ feel the fancier parts of the country do.
@thetravelmum said that if you’re on a budget but still like to feel fancy, the Cinque Terra is the place to be in Italy.
She explained that “it’s five towns on the north western coast of Italy”. “And you’re gonna want to get cheap flights to Genoa airport”, she shared, as there’s an easy “air link” you can travel on to the train station.
From the train station, “you can easily get the train down the coast to the towns”. She shared that she stayed in a “place called Rapello”, which “saved us a lot of money” on the trip.
But, despite the fact it’s much cheaper, she described it as “the perfect base” to stay because “it’s got everything you’re gonna need”.
It also has a train station, which means it’s “cheap and easy to get down to the five towns” – rather than staying in one of them which would be more expensive.
She said the towns are “beautiful”, and “so picturesque” – and judging by the gorgeous pictures of it, she’s not exaggerating!
She described them as the “perfect place to mooch around, have some drinks, and try some fantastic Italian food”. She said there are even beaches, which would be “perfect” if you went in the summer months.
In the comments, someone wrote: “Beautiful! Thanks for sharing the more ‘less’ travelled places on your page. Inspired”.
Another warned: “Beautiful places to visit. You need to think about when you go. The towns are very popular with big crowds and packed trains at peak times.”
“This has been on my list for ages!”, a TikToker shared.
To visit Cinque Terre, the easiest thing to do is catch a flight from the UK to Italy. Nearby airports include Pisa International Airport, Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport and Florence Airport.
After arriving in Italy, you can take a train to Cinque Terre. The five villages of Cinque Terre are well-connected by train, and the main nearby railway stations are in La Spezia and Levanto.
