Tottenham player ratings vs Bodo/Glimt with one 3/10 and three 4/10s in draw | Football | Sport
Tottenham Hotspur managed to scrape a 2-2 draw against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on Tuesday night, despite being outplayed by their hosts. Jens Petter Hauge’s brace was well-deserved as the hosts dominated the error-prone Spurs, but Micky van de Ven, acting captain for the day, managed to pull one back before an 89th-minute shot from Archie Gray ricocheted off Bodo defender Jostein Gundersen and into the net, saving Thomas Frank’s side from embarrassment.
Spurs returned to the small Norwegian seaside town just four months after their 2-0 victory in the Europa League semi-final second leg in May but only managed an undeserved point on this occasion. Express Sport rates and slates the Tottenham players…
Tottenham player ratings vs Bodo/Glimt
Guglielmo Vicario – 5
He made an early save from Berg and then an easy one from Bjortuft. He couldn’t do much about Hauge’s finishes.
Pedro Porro – 5
He was outdone for both of Hauge’s goals. He did hit the post with a free-kick in the second half before delivering a great cross for Van de Ven’s goal to balance his score.
Kevin Danso – 4
Back in the team, he mixed aimless passing with some crucial early blocks. He seemed lost at times alongside the backline.
Micky van de Ven – 6
Captain for the day, he was penalised for a shirt pull that ruled out Bentancur’s goal but then scored himself after Bodo’s second. He tried to lead Spurs on and push them up the pitch in the second half. He lost his cool with a late sliding tackle somewhat.
Djed Spence – 4
Going through a sticky run at the moment with some poor passing and worse deliveries.
Pape Matar Sarr – 4
Started the game with some sloppy moments in possession. Didn’t get much better from then on.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 5
Gave away the penalty in the first half with a misjudged lunge. Thought he’d got a leveller only for Van de Ven’s shirt pull.
Lucas Bergvall – 5
Made a great early break that should have ended with a better Richarlison effort. Was overwhelmed with the midfield from then on.
Brennan Johnson – 3
Another game where he struggled to contribute much and their missed penalty came from him ducking out of an aerial battle. A poor night.
Richarlison – 4
Scuffed a ball from Bergvall that should have been put away. Was pretty poor for most of the game but did help force the leveller.
Wilson Odobert – 5
Had a couple of bright moments on the ball amid Spurs’ dreadful first half. Was quiet in the second half until sending a header against the post.
Substitutes
Xavi Simons – 6
Spurs needed him on the pitch and he at least got them going forward.
Mohammed Kudus – 7
Offered much more than Johnson and grabbed an assist with his cross to Van de Ven.
Joao Palhinha – 6
Increased the midfield control slightly.
Archie Gray – 7
Made a late impact with his shot saved and bouncing in off the defender.
Destiny Udogie – 6
Brought more width to Spurs’ play late on.
