Tottenham player ratings (4-2-3-1)
Vicario 8
Made two early saves to deny Hojlund and the Garnacho in the opening 10 minutes. Another top stop to keep out Garnacho again early in the second half.
The pick of the saves came in the 58th minute, flying down to his right to keep Garnacho’s low drive at bay.
Pedro Porro 5
Had a difficult time in the first half against Garnacho. Was fortunate for the United winger’s poor finishing.
Kevin Danso 6 (substituted 78)
It was a relatively quiet afternoon for both Spurs centre-backs.
Ben Davies 6
Lost Hojlund for an early chance but was solid thereafter.
Djed Spence 8
Was a threat down the left and delivered some dangerous balls into the box. Made a magnificent late sliding tackle on Hojlund.
Lucas Bergvall 6 (substituted 64)
Had the shot that was parried into Maddison’s pass for the opening goal. Kept the energy high and was taken off after an hour for fresh legs.
Rodrigo Bentancur 6 (substituted 78)
Moved the ball well and helped to overrun United’s poor two-man midfield.
Dejan Kulusevski 7
Was a livewire and could have made it 2-0 in the 78th minute but his stinging shot was saved by Onana.
James Maddison 7 (substituted 64)
Was the only player alive in the box when Bergvall’s shot was parried out, which gave him a simple tap in. Kept probing to try and unlock the United defence.
Son Heung-min 6
It wasn’t one of Son’s finest matches in a Spurs shirt as he struggled to stamp his mark. Came alive in the last 15 and kept trying to drive Spurs forward.
Matthys Tel 6
Fed off very little but was in the right areas had he received better service.
Best chance came 15 minutes from time when Son laid the ball off at the edge of the box, but he hit a tame effort straight down Onana’s throat.
