Tottenham ‘scouting’ four midfielders as Ange Postecoglou prepares for Hojbjerg exit | Football | Sport

transfer chiefs are reportedly casting their eye over four exciting midfield prospects as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg nears the exit door in north London. has already welcomed two senior signings to Spurs this winter, and he could round off the January window by bringing in a third with an eye on the future of his squad.

Hojbjerg has been a bit-part player under Postecoglou due to the impressive performances of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr at the base of midfield. Juventus are said to retain an interest in the 28-year-old, who is reportedly keen to seek out a new challenge before the window slams shut.

The Dane’s departure would leave Spurs a man light in the middle of the park, and Postecoglou is understood to be keen on the idea of bringing in a young up-and-comer with the hunger to fight their way up the pecking order.

According to football.london, four midfielders in particular are on Spurs scouts’ radar, who could advise the north Londoners to swoop before January draws to a close.

The first is Royal Antwerp’s Arthur Vermeeren. At just 18 years old, the midfield maestro has already captained a senior match, earned caps for Belgium and impressed in the Champions League.

Virtually every top club in Europe is keeping close tabs on the teenager, who has been compared to Barcelona legend Xavi. Tottenham chiefs are attentive to developments on the continent while also casting an eye on talent closer to home.

Tottenham’s interest is believed to be long-standing, and they could get their hands on the starlet for as little as £6million. January signings Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin have already made their debuts since joining up with Postecoglou.

They could feature again on Friday, when Spurs host Manchester City in a mouth-watering FA Cup fourth-round tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
