Tragic British girl, 11, died after being found in Canary Islands pool | World | News

An 11-year-old girl died after she was found unresponsive in a hotel pool on the popular Canary Island holiday destination of Fuerteventura. 

An inquest has opened at Cheshire Coroner’s court for the death of Francesca Mae Blease, who was found in a swimming pool on August 7, an opening on Wednesday was told.

Coroner’s officer Paul Downey said Francesca from Crewe was taken to a hospital in Gran Canaria and died on August 8 when her life support machine was switched off.

Coroner Victoria Davies said given there was an unnatural cause of death, it was appropriate for her to formally open an inquest.
A full inquest will be held on January 27.
