Kobbie Mainoo has demanded a loan exit from Manchester United this summer, reports The Athletic.

The midfielder wants to spend the remainder of the campaign elsewhere to ensure that he can continue playing regular first-team football.

Mainoo spoke with the higher powers at United on Thursday to explain that he does not want to leave the club permanently but feels a loan exit would accelerate his development. However, the Red Devils bosses informed their academy graduate that no such plans would be sanctioned.

Instead, Mainoo is expected to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his spot in Ruben Amorim’s starting XI.
