Trump ‘forgets who he is’ as White House staff worried he’s ‘lost the plot’ | World | News
Fears for Donald Trump’s health have once again erupted following a bizarre meeting that left White House officials wondering if he’s “losing the plot”. A source at the White House reportedly expressed concerns that the US president is starting to forget who he is, columnist and reporter Michael Wolff said.
Mr Wolff made this bombshell claim on the Daily Beast’s Inside Trump’s Head podcast with host Joanna Coles. He said he spoke to the anonymous insider about Mr Trump’s recent meeting with the New York mayor elect, Zohran Mamdani. The president appeared to have softened considerably towards Mr Mamdani during their televised meeting, which allegedly sparked great concern amongst White House officials.
Mr Wolff said: “I said, well, what was everybody’s reaction to this?” The Source replied: “Everybody’s reaction was what the f***? Nobody expected that, this was not the script.”
The columnist added: “The Oval Office is always the dominant message he wants to send. I’m the big guy, you’re the small guy. I am angry, and you’re gonna take it. I am the president, and you’re not.
“This person I spoke to said – this wasn’t just losing the plot, this was like a different guy. The look in his eyes was crazy.”
Ms Coles questioned whether Mr Trump’s change in behaviour could be due to a stroke, echoing previous concerns for the president’s health.
She asked: “Is it possible he’s had a stroke over the weekend? We had Dr Gardner on last week, and he said there are clear indications that something has gone wrong.”
Mr Wolff said “this was certainly the suggestion” and quoted the White House source as saying: “Literally, the only explanation is that the guy forgot who he is. It gives you a 25th Amendment shiver.”
