Donald Trump has revealed he is “pausing he period of energy plant destruction” in Iran by 10 days while continuing to insist talks over a deal to end the war are “going very well”.
Writing on Truth Social, the US President said: “As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
Mr Witkoff said: “This has been circulated through the Pakistani government.”
The head of the UN agency responsible for overseeing civilian nuclear activity has condemned recent military strikes near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant.
Rafael Grossi, who leads the International Atomic Energy Agency, warned that such attacks “could result in a major radiological accident affecting a large area in Iran and beyond.”
According to the IAEA, Grossi repeated his appeal for maximum restraint, stressing once again his “deep concern” over the situation and the potential risks involved.
The latest reported strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant occurred last Tuesday, following an earlier incident confirmed by the agency on 17 March. None of the attacks, however, were reported to have caused damage to the facility itself.
