Trump health fears soar during ‘bizarre’ press briefing | World | News
Donald Trump’s health fears have once again soared during a “bizarre” White House press conference that has been branded a “complete disaster”. The US President has been giving a briefing to the US media before he flies to Davos, where he could face a tense reception from European and NATO leaders over his repeated threats to seize control of Greenland.
But many people have taken to X (Twitter) to express their concerns over Mr Trump’s health and his “rambling” speech during his White House press briefing. One person wrote: “This @realDonaldTrump press conference is a complete disaster. He’s rambling incoherently and flipping through a picture book of ‘accomplishments’ in front of the press. He’s clearly unwell. It’s getting really bad.” Another commented: “Trump is clearly in the stages of dementia. Scatty, mind wandering, picture prompts, incoherent ramblings – all signs of dementia. In the most bizarre press conference I’ve seen…” A third said: “Trump not just incoherent after 2 minutes ‘live’ on TV, but slurring his words and tone. He is not just tired, folks; it’s time for a medical review. US Congress, US Senate – do your jobs!”
The backlash comes just weeks after Donald Trump attempted to brush aside growing concerns about his mental sharpness by publicly boasting about cognitive tests.
Speaking at a rally in Rocky Mount on Saturday, December 21, Trump insisted he was in “perfect health” as he detailed the exams he had taken amid mounting speculation about his cognitive abilities.
“I did something no other president’s ever done.” he said. “I took cognitive tests because I know that, and by the way, not easy.”
He went on to insist the results proved he was mentally fit for office, adding: “I’ve taken now three cognitive tests. I’ve aced every single one of them.”
However, despite Trump’s insistence that he is in “perfect health” and has passed every test put before him, critics were quick to voice their doubts online.
One user, posting under the name BafaRenitez, wrote on X: “Anyone watching Donald Trump’s press conference? He’s completely deranged. It’s like he’s drunk.”
Speaking about the tests, Trump previously repeated claims that his predecessor, Joe Biden, would have struggled with the assessments, which he said required him to identify animals such as fish, lions, giraffes and hippopotamuses.
“Could you imagine sleepy Joe taking a cognitive test?” Trump said at the time, before adding that he did not believe Biden “would have got the first question right.”
Trump has repeatedly dismissed concerns about his health as politically motivated, insisting he remains fully capable of carrying out his duties and pointing to the cognitive tests as proof of his fitness for office.
The renewed scrutiny comes as Trump prepares to travel to Davos for the World Economic Forum, where he is expected to face tough questions from European and NATO leaders, with aides insisting the president remains focused on international diplomacy despite the growing online backlash.
