Vladimir Putin’s forces launched an overnight attack on Ukraine ahead of Donald Trump‘s emergency meeting with European leaders. Russia sent a barrage of 49 drones and two ballistic missiles, striking the Donetsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions. Two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 32 Shahed drones, and various types of decoy drones were shot down or suppressed through electronic warfare. Fifteen locations were hit with 17 UAVs.

One woman was also killed in the Kherson region after heaving Russian shelling, local authorities said. Her home in Chernobaivka was destroyed in an artillery attack, while her neighbours’ properties suffered broken roofs and shattered windows. This came just hours before Donald Trump is due for an emergency call with European leaders ahead of his summit with Putin on Friday. The call will focus on pressure options against Russia, seized Ukrainian territories, security guarantees for Kyiv, and the sequencing of potential peace talks, a German government spokesperson told POLITICO.
