UK Foreign Office set to issue Israel red alert and ‘advise against all travel’ | World | News

The UK Foreign Office is set to advise against all travel to Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. The Government will be updating its guidance to red, The Times reports.

The Foreign Office warned against “all but essential travel” to most of Israel on Friday, with the areas around Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan Heights already classed as red zones.

The warnings were put in place after Iran launched multiple rounds of missile and drone attacks against Israel, with a nationwide state of emergency declared in Israel on 13 June. Israeli airspace also remains closed.

It is now understood that the warning for the remainder of the country is set to be updated to red, putting Israel on the same level as Iran.

The Foreign Office has also warned that your travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against the government advice.

The warning comes after several children were killed in Iran’s latest missile strikes on Israel, including a girl, eight, and a boy 10m who were found dead this morning in Bat Yam. Emergency services are continuing to look for survivors.

On Saturday night, Tehran launched a second round of missiles towards Israel as the Israeli military continued to attack the Islamic Republic.

After hundreds of strikes towards Iran’s nuclear sites over the past few days, Israel said nine senior scientists and experts involved in Iran’s nuclear program were killed, in addition to several top generals. Iran’s UN ambassador said 78 people were killed and more than 320 wounded.

Talks between the US and Iran were also cancelled following Israel’s strikes on Iran. The two countries were scheduled to hold their sixth round of indirect talks over Iran’s nuclear program on Sunday (June 15) in Oman, but the Omani foreign minister said they were called off.
