Russia has hit out at Donald Trump over his attack on Venezuela. US President Donald Trump confirmed the country’s president Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, had been flown out of Caracas and indicted on “narco-terrorism” charges following strikes early on Saturday.

In an angry statement, Russia demanded the release of Maduro and said it would always defend the South American nation. The Foreign Ministry said: “Russia will continue to support the course pursued by its Bolivarian leadership to defend the country’s national interests and sovereignty.”
