Venus Williams marries actor as sis Serena gives amazing wedding gift | Tennis | Sport
Venus Williams celebrated a second wedding ceremony in Florida over the weekend as she married Italian actor Andrea Preti, three months after the duo first tied the knot in Ischia, Italy. The couple first met during Milan Fashion Week in 2024.
Williams is one of the most famous tennis stars on the planet, having won five Wimbledon titles and two US Open trophies throughout her illustrious career. She continues to play the sport at the age of 45 and entered the US Open in August, where she lost in the first round to former French Open finalist Karolina Muchova.
Williams and her husband had a five-day wedding at their home in Palm Beach, with the event planned by Jennifer Zabinski of JZ Events. And the athlete revealed her sister Serena Williams gave her a yacht as a wedding present.
“They always say weddings go so fast, and they do,” Williams told Vogue. “We started on Monday. Serena gave us this gift of a beautiful yacht, and she arranged all the food, everything.
“We had 10 to 12 of our closest family and friends who were in town on the boat, and we were singing, dancing, gossiping, and just enjoying each other.
“We love welcoming people into our home every single day, and everyone was eager to have fun with us. It was the Italians and the Americans all together.”
The aforementioned publication revealed that Williams and Preti hosted a bridal shower at their home on Tuesday and then headed down to Miami for a romantic dinner on Wednesday following a pool party.
And on Thursday, they held a sports day as guests played volleyball, tennis, dodgeball and pickleball as well as having wheelbarrow races.
On Friday, the couple woke up at 4am for their courthouse wedding, with Williams adding: “I can’t describe how beautiful, calm, sacred, exciting and exalting it was. It was just a dream.”
Serena Williams took to Instagram this week to share a picture of herself standing with her sister on the wedding day.
And the 44-year-old shared a beautiful message as she wrote: “My sister’s keeper. Venus, where do I even begin? From the backyard courts to the biggest stages in the world, you’ve always led with grace, strength, and a heart bigger than any trophy. Watching you step into this next chapter surrounded by love felt like watching the sun rise… steady, powerful, and full of promise.
“You’ve been my built-in best friend, my protector, my teacher, and my reminder to always walk in purpose. Seeing you this happy, this loved, this radiant… it means everything to me.
“To love, to partnership, to laughter, and to a lifetime of choosing each other every single day. I couldn’t be prouder to stand beside you, not just today, but always.”
