Vet says they’d ‘never own’ these dog certain dog breeds

Vet tech Connie, who is training to be a veterinarian, has shared the two dog breeds she’d never own.

She posted an explainer video to TikTok where it has had over 20 million views, captioning the clip: “Dog breeds I would NOT own as a veterinary technician and why.”

First up, Connie controversially declared that she would never own a Goldendoodle, a mix of Golden Retriever and a Poodle. She went on: “Or any doodle/poo mix. They should not exist. Some are really nice but most are bat**** crazy, neurotic psychopaths.”

Describing them as a “genetic dumpsterfire” she added that there are countless things that can wrong healthwise. She went on: “They’re always matted or have an ear infection. People don’t groom them properly.”

Finishing the review with a very worrying remark, she added: “I had a patient that was a Goldendoodle, and its medical notes read ‘would kill or seriously harm a small child’ because it was so aggressive.”

Pet marketplace Pets4Homes found that the Goldendoodle was the UK’s most sought-after dog in 2023, along with French Bulldogs, with 995 buyers for every pooch.

Next on the list is the pure white Samoyed, which Connie described as having “a hair care routine more expensive than my own” and compared to a “feather duster that bites”. Third is the Japanese Shiba Inu, which she called “dramatic” and not friendly to anyone outside of their family.

Another controversial opinion from Connie was her fourth dog, a Beagle, saying they bark for no reason, have anal gland issues, and live forever even if they’re obese and diabetic, meaning they can become very expensive for owners.

Adorable mini poodles also didn’t escape her wrath, with the vet tech moaning that they always seem to have diarrhea and need expensive food to cope. From tiny to giant, Connie also revealed the noble Great Dane wouldn’t be allowed to come home with her. She wrote: “I love you but why are you scared of everything you’re literally the size of a horse.”

Sad-faced Basset Hounds were up next with Connie describing them as a “smelly walking infection” due to them being prone to many different ailments thanks to their skin and anal glands.

Another favourite amongst Brits but not with Connie is the French Bulldog. Bemoaning the breed she wrote: “Back problems, allergy problems, behaviour problems, usually needs surgery just to breathe. Most of you are horribly bred and absolute goblins at the vets.”

The ninth dog on the list is the late Queen of England’s number one choice, the Corgi. Describing them as “land sharks” she revealed they usually have back problems, dental issues, and behavioural concerns.

Blaming the fact that she couldn’t allocate enough attention to suitably care for this breed, Connie revealed German Shepherds took the number 10 spot in her list of dogs she would never own.

Two small dogs that wouldn’t be invited home with her are the Pug and the Westie. Describing Pugs as dramatic and can outlive anything, Connie added that Westies are generally nice but can get severe skin issues.

Next up is the Husky, which Connie admitted she doesn’t think should live anywhere it is too hot as it’s cruel and they need loads of attention and exercise. She added: “Huskies own people, people don’t own Huskies.”

Last but not least is the Chinese Chow Chow, with the vet tech revealing she had yet to meet a nice one, had experienced them going for her jugular multiple times, and couldn’t get passed the fact it had a black tongue.

The majority of people watching were in complete agreement, with one user sharing: “The beagle one is soooo true. My partner’s beagle was 19 and DECREPIT but would’ve lived out of pure spite.” Another pet owner posted: “My sisters pug is blind, deaf and we don’t think he can smell anymore, and yet he persists. And a third person replied: “As a dog groomer, I agree with all of these. Gods, if I have to tell another pet parent that their doodles do, in fact, need to be brushed, I’ll lose it.”
