Senegal take on host country Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Saturday, with both countries vying for their second crowns. Morocco have not won the competition since 1976 and are desperate to do so on home soil, while Senegal lifted the title in 2021 and Sadio Mane’s side are hoping to repeat their feat in Rabat.

Mane is playing in his final AFCON game tonight and is set to end his international career imminently. He scored in the semi-final win over Egypt, defeating his former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah, proving that the 33-year-old is the man for the big occasion. However, his side will be without their captain, Kalidou Koulibaly, through suspension.

Here’s everything you need to know about the AFCON final…

The grand finale is scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026. The match will kick off at 7pm GMT at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

How to watch AFCON final

E4 will broadcast the match live in the UK. Coverage of this marquee event is set to commence at 6.30pm, half an hour before the match begins.

UK viewers can stream the final live on the Channel 4 website or via the All 4 app. These platforms provide free access to the match for anyone with a valid UK TV license.

Senegal will be without their former Chelsea defender Koulibaly for the final. The captain sustained a groin injury during their semi-final victory over Egypt and had already received a yellow card in the game, which would have resulted in a suspension even if he were fit.

Koulibaly isn’t the only player facing a suspension for Senegal. Sunderland’s Habib Diarra received his second yellow card of the knockout stages against Egypt, making him ineligible for the final.

The host team is likely to be without Azzedine Ounahi, who was ruled out for the rest of the tournament earlier this month. Romain Saiss is working hard to regain fitness after being injured in his team’s opening match.

Senegal sailed through the group stages, then triumphed over Sudan (3-1) and Mali (1-0) in the initial knockout rounds. A nail-biting 1-0 victory over Egypt, thanks to a 78th-minute goal from Mane, secured their place in the final.

Morocco topped Group A before defeating Tanzania (1-0) and Cameroon (2-0) to reach the semi-finals. They confirmed their place in the final following a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Nigeria after a goalless draw in extra time.

Senegal claimed their first AFCON title in 2021. On the other hand, Morocco are feeling the heat to secure their first AFCON win since 1976, especially with the advantage of playing on home soil.
