Wolves star clashes with fans in car park – ‘I don’t speak to my wife’ | Football | Sport
Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa confronted supporters outside the stadium following their heartbreaking last-minute home defeat to Burnley, a result that left them as the only Premier League side yet to secure a victory this season. Vitor Pereira’s men found themselves 2-0 down within the opening 30 minutes before Jorgen Strand Larsen clawed one back from the penalty spot.
Marshall Munetsi then drew the scores level deep into first-half stoppage time. However, the devastating blow arrived in the 95th minute, when Lyle Foster struck past Sam Johnstone. At the final whistle, Pereira was spotted in a fiery confrontation with supporters and required an escort as chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ echoed from the South Bank.
“We understand the frustration of the people and supporters, but what I must say, if we fight united with them, we can win games and compete and achieve our targets – without them, it is impossible,” the Portuguese boss said afterwards. “If we win two or three games in a row, things will change.
“Two months ago they sang my name, because together with the work we did last season, we are competing in the Premier League and not Championship. Now they sing my name to sack me.”
Sa, dropped for a fourth straight match, was challenged about Wolves’ dismal start to the campaign by furious fans outside Molineux.
In footage going viral on social media, he’s heard saying: “When I go home, I don’t speak to my wife because we lose, because I am sad.”
The 32-year-old spent several minutes speaking with fans as they demanded answers.
Responding to the video, one Wolves supporter said: “Fair play to Sa, you may not think he’s a great keeper, but this isn’t his fault and he’s front up in a way that Shi should be.
“So we should just shout stuff at Jose Sa then, who wasn’t even playing?” a second questioned before another added: “I take Sa’s side. The guy had no involvement in today’s mess.
“He’s not been at his best when he’s been on the pitch but he’s NOT the villain today at all. Leave him be. Go after Vitor Periera and Jeff Shi. Not him”.
