Woman says ‘burnt toast theory’ can end up saving your life

When your day is getting off to a bad start, you don’t feel your best.

It could be something as simple as burning the toast you made for breakfast. The five-minute delay it takes you to make some more could have a knock-on effect on the rest of your morning routine.

You could leave for work a bit later than usual and end up being late or stuck in traffic you would have usually missed. But one woman said the viral ‘burnt toast’ theory has changed her perspective on the whole thing.

Karishma Fernandez, a morning radio host from Dubai, believes that the delay could change your life — or even stop you from being harmed. In the video, which has gained more than 80,000 likes, she explained: “I heard somewhere that if you’re making toast in the morning, you’re getting ready to leave to work the toast in case it gets burnt.

“At that point, you’re delayed by a few minutes. You’re upset because it’s an inconvenience.

“But the theory says that those additional few minutes may have avoided a catastrophe that you could have met with outside on the roads or possibly has now given you the opportunity to meet someone, or to have a different experience that might change the course of your day, possibly your life, because of the delay of those five minutes.”

She concluded that whatever happens following that happens “for the best” and many TikTok users agree. One user said: “Always live by ‘Absolutely everything happens for a reason’.”

Another added: “It’s God protecting you,” while a third commented: “Factual, I met my wife through this theory. God’s plan.”

However, some users argued that it could also go the other way. A user wrote: “That’s not a theory, that’s a superstition,” as someone else penned: “Unfortunately it works the other way around as well. The burnt toast delay might set you up for a catastrophe.”
