A shopper has documented her costly trip to what she describes as the “most expensive farm shop in the UK”.
Isobel Lorna ventured to the Cotswolds‘ to visit Daylesford Organic Farm Shop, which is located in in Gloucestershire.
Filming her day out for TikTok, she told her 1.2 million followers: “I’m going to get some snacks and see how expensive it is.”
Firstly, she picked up packets of caviar and 100% extra virgin olive oil-flavoured crisps priced at a hefty £6.75 each. Then, she wanted something sweet.
She was drawn to chocolate that had actual flowers inside. It was pretty but didn’t come cheap – retailing at an astonishing £15.
Her exploration didn’t end there, with the search for biscuits guiding Isobel to a collection of paper bags filled with organic Bakewell delights. But once more, astounded by the cost, she observed: “Okay these look nice, but they’re £9.25. Oh my gosh.”
Wanting a drink to accompany her snacks, Isobel selected what she described as the “world’s smallest coffee”. It was a tiny iced nut latte that cost a hefty £6.50.
Nearing the checkout, Isobel admitted: “I’m scared about the total of this.” However, she did manage to stick to her budget of £40.
After paying £37.90 for the few products, she added: “Wow, £37 for four items. I literally almost fainted at the checkout.”
Since posting about her visit last year, Isobel’s clip has attracted more than 900,000 views from curious TikTok users.
In response, one foodie said: “I don’t mind spending a little extra on fancy chocolate there is a difference in quality, but £9 for a bag of cookies is criminal.”
Another joked: “Those crisps are delicious, but also, they’re £4. In real shops they’re £4. You’re shopping in 2027 prices!”
A third was left shocked, asking: “WHAT are those prices?! Are they made of gold?!” Whilst a fourth added: “Wow, that is definitely some expensive stuff.”
However, not all were critical of the farm shop. Some defended it, sharing their positive experiences.
One fan said: “Daylesford is incredible – love it. Excellent produce, you can get it on Ocado as well.”
Another added: “Daylesford is such a nice location to visit and price to eat in is not bad, plus the food is great. Would highly recommend even if you just go for a walk around and take it all in.”
The farm shop’s website proudly states: “Set amidst our working organic farm, you can’t get much closer to the source than in our farmshop stocked with fruit and vegetables harvested daily from our market garden, pasture-raised meat from our own farms, artisan bread from our bakery and award-winning cheese from our creamery, all just steps away.
“Keep things simple with nibbles from the delicatessen counter, organic and biodynamic wines from our Wine Stall, and freshly made meals to heat up at home. Bring your own containers to fill up on store cupboard staples at the zero waste pantry, or pick up tempting, freshly made salads, toasties and sausage rolls.”
