Women over 50 urged to change daily habit to ‘look younger instantly’
A mature beauty guru has shared new tips that people should follow to instantly look younger – but it’s not what you are expecting.
The beauty world promotes taking Botox, expensive ‘miracle’ creams, and encourages getting better sleep or eating a healthy diet, however, there are more ways to prevent ageing by stopping everyday habits that you wouldn’t have thought of.
Healthy living expert, activist, and public speaker, Vicky DeRosa, has taken to TikTok to share her “controversial ways” to prevent ageing, no matter how old you are.
Vicky is passionate about teaching people about healthy lifestyles after being diagnosed with Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, a genetic disease that causes blindness. She overcame the disease thanks to her healthy lifestyle which she encourages others to follow.
Focusing on anti-ageing tips, Vicky shared: “Three things you can do right now to make yourself look younger instantly, and I mean instantly. It doesn’t matter how old you are, if you change these three things you will immediately look younger.”
Kicking off with her first tip, she warned: “This is going to sound funny but it’s true, stop drinking from a straw. Drinking from a straw it – it’s just like smoking right? They talk about stop smoking because you get those funky lines, stop drinking from a straw it’s the same thing.”
When you pucker your mouth when smoking or drinking from a straw, it can cause wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. If you do this repetitively the skin becomes damaged, and more prone to developing wrinkles.
Her next tip is to not “crinkle your brows.” She advises: “Don’t crinkle your brows, you’ll get those elevens.”
‘Eleven’ are also known as frown lines, according to Face Clinic London, one of the easiest ways to prevent them from getting worse is to find ways to keep your upper facial muscles relaxed.
You should avoid, squinting and smoking but you should also have antioxidants in your diet such as fruit and vegetables which help the skin to repair and maintain itself.
Vicky’s last and most “controversial” tip is to not wear dark lipstick. She shared: “I know this may cause controversy, I’m sorry I’m sticking to it. I don’t care if it causes controversy, I’m sticking to it – dark lipstick!”
After a short back and forth with herself, she added: “I think lighter lipstick makes us look younger, and for your years I’ve heard this, I’ve read this, I’ve heard from experts, makeup experts, so tell me what you think.”
However, according to Red Apple Lipstick, mature women should avoid bright, dark and red lipstick as it draws unwanted attention to their mouth and wrinkles.
The beauty page agreed with Vicky and stated that a softer lip colour makes you look more youthful when combined with good face makeup.
