World Cup of Darts star’s tooth appears to fly out as celebration goes wrong | Other | Sport

Petr Krivka appeared to lose a tooth following Czechia’s win over India at the World Cup of Darts as his on-stage celebration took a surprising turn. The 44-year-old is one of the most animated players at the tournament, and he did not hold back when nailing tops on his second attempt to take the match, seal a 4-2 victory and send his nation through to the knockout rounds.

As Krivka turned around and let out a loud roar, he may have been alarmed to see something white and tooth-sized fly out of his mouth and land on the ground. He even had to make his opponents wait a moment longer for the customary post-match handshake while he picked it up off the floor.

Sky Sports commentator Dan Dawson said: “Petr Krivka celebrates so hard I think one of his teeth just fell out of his head. What a way to mark your passage through to the last 16! Czechia win it, India go out, and now the celebrations can properly begin for the Czech pair.”

There has been some confusion about whether Krivka really did lose a tooth, or whether it was just a stray piece of chewing gum. Some fans have even delved into the way it bounced to try and get to the bottom of it as the clip went viral on social media.

Krivka’s errant tooth is one of numerous crazy scenes World Cup of Darts fans have been treated to so far, and will continue to be treated to during one of the sport’s most colourful tournaments.

In the match between India and Chinese Taipei on Friday, there was friction between the latter pair when Pupo Teng-Lieh spurned the chance to tie up the victory with a baffling miscount.

With 38 left, Teng-Lieh hit a single one and then a treble 19 when only a double 19 was required to begin with. Stern words were exchanged between the thrower and his team-mate, An-Sheng Lu, who did not shy away from giving Teng-Lieh a piece of his mind.

Sky Sports pundit Mark Websiter said: “Oh, what a mess. I don’t know what he’s done. I assumed he had gone to split it.”

Commentator Stuart Pyke added: “I don’t think he realised he had 38 left. Well that’s the problem. He’s bust his score and I don’t think he realised it was double 19 that he needed. Total confusion, total chaos! And a few words spoken.”
