Airports aren’t just places to queue for security and grab an overpriced sandwich, the best ones are now destinations in themselves. From rooftop gardens to luxury spas, some terminals around the world are offering far more than just a place to catch a flight.
The world’s top 10 airports for 2025 have now been named in the latest Skytrax World Airport Awards. The rankings are based on passenger surveys covering everything from terminal cleanliness and food options to staff friendliness and ease of navigation. More than 500 airports were assessed, with passengers rating their overall experience, right down to baggage delivery times and signage.
10. Zurich Airport – Switzerland
Zurich rounds out the top 10 with its calm atmosphere, luxury lounges, and punctual flights. It’s well connected to the Swiss rail network, with direct trains into Zurich city centre.
Passengers also liked the elegant design and reliable baggage handling. Zurich Airport is the busiest airport in Switzerland, and the main hub of Swiss International Air Lines. It is located around 7 miles from the centre of Zurich.

9. Munich Airport – Germany
Munich offers a mix of German efficiency and comfort. Passengers like the short transfer times, helpful staff, and traditional beer gardens on site. It’s known for smooth security procedures and easy connections to the city.
The airport is the second busiest in Germany and the secondary hub for Lufthansa. It also has around 150 retail stores and 50 places where you can eat and drink.

8. Rome Fiumicino – Italy
Also known as Leonardo da Vinci Airport, Rome Fiumicino has grown steadily in popularity. It was praised for good signage, decent food, and quick train access into central Rome.

7. Paris Charles de Gaulle – France
France’s busiest airport scored well for transport links, especially the direct RER train into Paris. The terminal has PlayStation lounges, decent food options, and modernised check-in areas.
While it once had a poor reputation, recent upgrades have turned things around. The airport opened in 1974 and is named after statesman Charles de Gaulle.

6. Hong Kong Airport – Hong Kong
Hong Kong International Airport continues to wow visitors with its new SkyCity expansion, IMAX theatre, and easy access into the city.
A major three-runway project worth £13.9 billion is currently underway, boosting capacity and future-proofing the airport for years to come. It is located on the island of Chek Lap Kok in western Hong Kong.
