Wrap tricky Christmas presents easily with expert’s folding method

If wrapping Christmas presents represents an annual struggle in your household, a self-proclaimed “folding queen” has just the answer to your problems ahead of December 25

Lennia McCarter took to TikTok in response to one of her followers who had asked for guidance on how to wrap “non-boxed items” such as clothes neatly and efficiently. In a video that has since been viewed more than four million times, she began by laying a gift on her paper, before folding it back over to ensure the paper would be sufficient in width.

Next, Lennia cut the paper from the rest of the roll and folded over strips on three sides around one-inch thick. On the fourth side, meanwhile, she folded from both corners in a triangular shape, making an envelope-like shape of the wrapping paper.

This enabled Lennia to stand the design up and simply pop the gift inside, just as you would a card in an envelope. Then, she folded over the fourth side – akin to an envelope seal flap – to ‘close’ it.

Lennia’s ended her wrapping advice by securing the present with three ribbons tied diagonally across. The first, wrapped around the corner, featured a bow, with a larger ribbon spreading across the centre of the present, and smaller one on the opposite corner (minus bow).

Writing in response, scores of TikTok users prasied the method including one who said: “Wow I just watched this whole video and I’m so impressed.”

A second person added: “I just wanna say thank you for taking the time to make this video to help those of us who have no idea how to wrap pretty. We are learning now!”

A third commented: “Omg, I really need to spice up my wrapping with this.” Whilst a fourth TikTok user declared: “This is art.”

If wrapping wine bottles is causing you problems, meanwhile, a second expert has her own solution. In a video posted by TikTok’s @jeffandlaurenshow, Lauren demonstrates making two incisions into a brown gift bag using a Stanley knife.

She then threads a ribbon through the openings before incorporating two candy canes and some foliage for additional flair.

Following this, she simply fashions the ribbon into a bow, fastening the decorations together, and then places a bottle of wine inside the bag.

Responding to her clip, one viewer commented: “I love this idea!” Another remarked: “Now that’s clever!”

A third person enthused: “Cute, what a good idea.” And a fourth concurred: “What a brilliant idea.”
