£112.80 payments confirmed for households on Monday | Personal Finance | Finance
Payments of £112.80 for households in Scotland claiming Scottish Child Payment have been confirmed for Monday, June 15. The payments are due to be issued to claimants as normal, despite June 15 being a public holiday in Scotland. The bonus day off comes in honour of Scotland’s participation in the men’s football FIFA World Cup 2026 finals.
The Bank Holiday was proposed by First Minister John Swinney to allow people, businesses and other organisations in Scotland to celebrate the team’s opening game against Haiti. His Majesty King Charles approved the Royal Proclamation in February, confirming the holiday to honour the first time the men’s national team has participated in the tournament since 1998.
But while the World Cup bank holiday in Scotland on Monday will give Scots an extra long weekend to celebrate the occasion, it won’t cause any disruption to payments.
Confirming that Scottish Child Payments will go out as normal on Monday, Social Security Scotland told The Express: “Just to confirm that Monday, 15 June, is a Scottish Public Holiday and doesn’t affect payments.”
Scottish Child Payments can be claimed by low-income families with children under the age of 16. For each child, claimants can get £28.20 per week and as the benefit is paid every four weeks, it means households will get £112.80 in every four-week period for each child that is eligible.
There’s no limit on the number of children in a family who can get the payment, so eligible households with more than one child under 16 will get even more.
To qualify, claimants must live in Scotland, be responsible for a child and either they or their partner must also be getting one of the following benefits:
Job Seeker’s Allowance (income based)
Employment Support Allowance (income related).
The application date for Scottish Child Payment will set the pay day for payments to be received, so households that are expecting a payment on Monday, June 15, will receive it as normal, with no disruption due to the public holiday. The same also applies to other Social Security Scotland benefits this month, which include:
Pension Age Disability Payment
Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.
