Man Utd ‘set to confirm two transfer deals’ as Carrick plans take shape | Football | Sport

Manchester United are on the verge of announcing two loan deals, as Michael Carrick forms his squad for the remainder of the season. The Red Devils, under previous boss Ruben Amorim, were expected to be quiet in the January transfer window. Whether that sentiment has changed with an interim coach at the helm remains to be seen.

Left-back Harry Amass, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, was recalled to Manchester in January.

He is now set to join Norwich after injuries to Lucien Mahovo and Jeff Schlupp.

Norwich boss Philippe Clement said: “We’re busy with several players and several positions, and I hope we can get everything over the line. I know everybody’s working hard on that.

“We had a lot of talks also this week with several players and after the talks they were really interested in the project.”

He attracted interest from several clubs in the second tier but is expected to join Norwich in their bid to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, midfielder Toby Collyer, who was similarly recalled from West Brom, is heading back out and will join Hull imminently.

Sergej Jakirovic’s side are pushing for promotion and have made room in their squad, with Kasey Palmer joining League One side Luton on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Collyer made 12 appearances for West Brom before a groin injury in November curbed his progress.

He turned out 13 times for United last season, playing under both Erik ten Hag and Amorim, before going out on loan in search of more regular playing time.

United will hope that Collyer’s exit does not leave them light in midfield, with an extra player now required to start in the middle of the pitch, following a change in formation under Carrick.
