Snooker LIVE: Murphy vs Wu World Snooker Championship final updates | Other | Sport

Murphy has beaten Fan Zhengyi, Xiao Guodong and defending champion Zhao Xintong, and secured £100,000 after his semi‑final win over John Higgins. Reaching the final guarantees him £200,000, with £500,000 up for grabs.

“I think I’m a better player now,” Murphy said. “You know, I’m a more rounded, mature player. I was 22. That’s 21 years ago. I think I’m a totally different prospect, a different package.

“I feel like my scoring is still there as it ever was. I’ve become a bit more of a mature player. But there’s no getting away from it. I’ll say that I want to go out and play like it means nothing, but it’ll mean everything.

“There’s a totally different reverence given to multiple world champions through the Tour among the players. They are seen in a different light. There aren’t many of them. So it’s quite a small club within a club. There is a slightly different nod to the guys who have won twice or more.”
