Roberto Martinez will leave Portugal once the World Cup is over, even if he leads the country to their first-ever triumph in the tournament. The Spaniard is set to become the second World Cup manager to leave their post after Sabri Lamouchi was sacked by Tunisia less than 24 hours after losing their opening game 5-1 to Sweden. Lamouchi has since been replaced by Herve Renard.

And Martinez is set to follow by leaving his role as Portugal national team manager next month. TalkSPORT claim the decision is his and that the former Swansea, Wigan and Everton head coach is voluntarily stepping down. Martinez is out of contract afer the tournament and has decided he does not want to renew his deal.

The 52-year-old is open to returning to the Premier League but after stints in charge of Belgium and Portugal could also remain in international management. He has not coached at club level for 10 years.
