US President Donald Trump has been accused of cheating as he won a golf tournament at the weekend. Social media users questioned the result after Trump claimed victory in the club championship at his Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey with a reported score of 70.

A viral video shared online has since fuelled further speculation, with some users claiming it shows suspicious movement after the President plays his shot. One clip, shared on X by the account @BlueDem2024, was captioned: “Trump golf highlights… ‘Finger of God’ for the win.” The post also encouraged viewers to “watch his finger at the end and make your own conclusion.” Trump later posted footage of what he described as “The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship!” on Truth Social, showing his ball landing on the green before coming to rest close to the hole. The 80-year-old said he had won both the club championship and senior championship after carding a score of 70 on the par-72 course.

According to the President, the victory adds to a record of more than 40 club championship titles won at his own properties.

His latest triumph quickly drew criticism online, with several social media users alleging the score was not legitimate.

One user wrote: “I’ve seen his swing, he didn’t shoot 70 unless he cheated and played from the short tees. No way.”

Another added: “It’s funny that he cheats to win and knows this. But he doesn’t care. He just wants to win by whatever means.”

Responding to the “Finger of God” clip, one X user claimed: “Other ppl do his dirty bidding. Plausible deniability. That’s his MO.”

Another commented: “‘Finger of God’ is one way to put it. Another is ‘standard operating procedure at courses he owns.’ 43 club championships and the putter still needs backup from the index finger.”

Others were more sceptical about the footage itself. One user wrote: “Not sure if this video is real but that is atrocious putting. Not a single golfer shooting a 70 puts like that, ever.” Another said: “No fan of this grifter but that was a gimme putt to be fair.”

Trump’s own footage of the shot also prompted further reactions, with one social media user writing: “lol 100% that golf ball is remote controlled! those bounces are not normal.”

Another joked: “That ball had a string : ) or front Brakes,” while a third added: “I expect there was a little helpful foot tap at some point by someone.”

Others pointed out that the clip did not appear to show the ball dropping into the hole. One user asked: “Did it ‘automatically’ count as ‘going in the hole’? Just being in the general area?”

Celebrating the victory on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated.

“I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

Trump also owns courses in Scotland and was seen playing a round during a visit to the U.K.

The president is an avid golfer and has long boasted of his achievements on the course. However, his claims have repeatedly been questioned, with sportswriter Rick Reilly previously alleging: “When it comes to cheating, he’s an 11 on a scale of one to 10.”

There is no evidence confirming Trump cheated during the Bedminster championship.

However, the latest footage has prompted another wave of allegations and debate across social media.
