A two-year-old girl has died after a neighbour’s dog dragged her into the woods and attacked her. Three people have this week been arrested and charged over the gruesome incident which occurred in March in Arkansas, United States.
The young girl, named by police as Celeste Jackson, was killed on Saturday, March 28, when a neighbour’s dog that was not fenced in or kept on a chain attacked her, dragging her into the woods. Earnest Jackson, 54, Christina Hart, 41, and MaKayla Jackson, 21, were each arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in connection with the fatal incident, according to a police statement from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. It’s unclear if they have entered pleas or retained attorneys to speak on their behalf.
Deputies were called to the scene on March 28 after receiving a report of an “animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl.” Police told KATV a neighbour’s loose dog dragged the girl into the woods. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, police said: “On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at approximately 6:25 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Norman Road in reference to an animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl.
“Following an extensive investigation by the PCSO Criminal Investigations Division arrests have been made in connection with this incident.
“The following individuals have been arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor: MaKayla Jackson, Earnest Jackson, and Christina Hart.
“The dog believed to have been involved in the attack is in the custody of the Pulaski County Animal Control Division.”
The girl’s grandmother set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the family to cover the funeral expenses.
A message on the page reads: “Celeste was a very smart baby who brought so much joy to our lives. She loved watching Ms Rachel, Bluey, and Stitch, and her bright spirit touched everyone who knew her.
“Our family is having a hard time processing this loss, and we are doing our best to support each other as we grieve.”
The campaign has managed to raise more than $5,000.
