Ex-Premier League ace turned radio host Jamie O’Hara has been hospitalised on holiday after suffering a nightmare health scare. The former Tottenham midfielder had been taking a break from his busy talkSPORT schedule with a holiday in Portugal. But while he was soaking up the sun in Albufeira, O’Hara contracted a serious bout of food poisoning. So much so, the 39-year-old was forced to seek medical attention and had to check himself into a local hospital.

Sharing the story on social media, O’Hara revealed he’d been left feeling worse for wear after eating some dodgy cheese on toast. It was accompanied by a photo of him on a drip in hospital, with the caption: “Got food poisoning from cheese on toast in albufeira absolute stinker”.

Issuing an update later on, he added: “Man down in albufeira only got food poisoning from cheese on toast”.

There were plenty of well wishes for the former footballer, with @danski_1979 writing on X: “J, I wish you a speedy recovery from Weymouth.”

@SmartTaxi2022 added: “Shambles mate. Get better soon matey.”

@wethem1zyeet added: “Goooood meal, get well soon but SPURS are actually back.”

O’Hara, along with fellow Sports Bar presenter Jason Cundy, have both been enjoying some hard-earned time off. The pair have gone viral on several occasions over the last year or so for their belly-busting reactions to the biggest stories from the world of football.

Meanwhile, at talkSPORT towers, Alan Brazil made a hero’s return following a health scare of his own. The 67-year-old had been absent from talkSPORT HQ for over four months, having been forced off air with a medical emergency earlier this year.

Brazil returned for his usual Breakfast show slot, alongside ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor. Recalling his situation, Brazil said: “Went to the hospital and a few hours later, wallop, they open me up and stick a new liver in there.

“I had cancer on my liver and we suspected that for months but they didn’t want to touch it and shake it up in case it spread. But the perfect match came in straight away and if it hadn’t, I might still have been waiting. I was so lucky.”

Before adding: “They inject you all over and you have to sign a few forms, you get carried in there and it’s like ‘goodbye everyone’, that’s how bad it was.

“I thought ‘see you later’. My wife was in tears. It was horrible. I didn’t realise it was that extreme but it was. They told me ‘Another couple of weeks and you were gone’.”
