Arne Slot decides on shock Prem job offer days after Liverpool sack | Football | Sport
Arne Slot has reportedly turned down an approach from Fulham to take charge as their new head coach, less than a week after being sacked by Liverpool. The Dutchman, who won the Premier League in his debut season at Anfield, was relieved of his duties last Saturday following a disappointing campaign at the club.
Andoni Iraola, the highly-regarded departing Bournemouth manager, has since been unveiled as Slot’s replacement, with the 43-year-old penning a two-year deal. Despite Slot’s reputation taking a hit following Liverpool‘s calamitous title defence, he remains a sought-after figure, and it has emerged that Fulham wasted no time in making a move for him this week.
However, The Times claim that Slot has no desire to take on the Craven Cottage vacancy and is happy to bide his time until the right opportunity comes along following his departure from Anfield.
The 47-year-old has already been touted as a potential candidate to take the reins of the Netherlands national side after the World Cup.

Fulham confirmed earlier this week that their current manager, Marco Silva, would be departing the club upon the expiry of his contract. He is set to step into the shoes of the Real Madrid-bound Jose Mourinho as head coach of Benfica.
Kieran McKenna is believed to be among Fulham’s other targets to fill the void left by Silva, though securing the Ipswich Town manager’s services will not come without a significant price tag.
McKenna would require a compensation package of around £8million following his success in guiding Ipswich back to the Premier League.
Silva wrote an open letter following confirmation that he would leave Fulham this month, likely for Benfica.
He said: “After five years, our journey together comes to an end. I leave with a feeling I was told when I first arrived – that Fulham Football Club is a family.
“Thanks to Mr Khan, Tony and Alistair for their support and, above all, for the relationship we built. Thank you for the great work of all the club staff members behind the scenes. The players will be left with great memories and moments that we shared together through our hard work.
“Last, but not least, to our fans – I asked you from day one, to always be with us. And that’s what you did these past five years. We achieved a lot together.
“My staff and I always felt your support. It will never be forgotten. Fulham will always be in my heart, and sooner or later I will be back at Craven Cottage.
“- Marco.”
