Arsenal news: Eli Junior Kroupi transfer twist as captain to make exit | Football | Sport
As a result, little will be at stake when the Gunners travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday, with both sides preparing for European finals the following week. Arsenal have the opportunity to complete a stunning double and lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history against Paris Saint-Germain.
While Arteta remains focused on getting the best from his current squad, plans will be drawn up on how to strengthen the side this summer. Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium following his breakthrough campaign with the Cherries.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are reportedly keen on Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand, who has been tipped to depart the Portuguese club this summer. Here, Express Sport examines some of the most significant stories surrounding the north London outfit.
New team join Eli Junior Kroupi race
Arsenal are said to be eyeing Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, though the Cherries have no intention of selling. The teenager has already endeared himself to Gunners supporters by netting against City on Tuesday, a goal that ultimately handed Arsenal the Premier League title.
The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal are amongst the clubs “tracking” the 19-year-old. Chelsea are also now claimed to be keeping tabs on Kroupi ahead of the summer transfer window.
However, the report states that Bournemouth have made clear that the France Under-21 international is not for sale. The Cherries have no desire to cash in on one of their prized assets as manager Andoni Iraola prepares to depart the club.
Kroupi has scored 13 goals in 32 Premier League outings, averaging a goal every 124 minutes this season. Bournemouth could potentially secure Champions League qualification in their final fixture against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Target prepares for farewell
Sporting CP captain Morten Hjulmand is widely expected to play his final match for the club on Sunday. The Denmark international is gearing up to face Torreense in the Taca de Portugal final.
Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha reports that Hjulmand “wants to say goodbye” by lifting the trophy this weekend. The publication has previously described Arsenal as “leading the race” for his signature, alongside Manchester United.
The defensive midfielder’s contract contains a £69million release clause, but he is anticipated to depart for roughly half that figure, with Sporting already working on identifying his successor. Atletico Madrid and Manchester City are also said to be keen on the 26-year-old.
Hjulmand arrived at Sporting from Lecce in 2023 and handed the captain’s armband the following year. The Danish midfielder has secured two Primeira Liga titles and one Taca de Portugal during his spell at the club as he seeks to add another major trophy to his haul.
