Arsenal turn London red as trophy parade attracts one million fans | Football | Sport
Arsenal celebrated their Premier League title triumph in style on Sunday, with over one million fans turning out across a five-mile loop through north London. The Gunners turned the capital red with thousands of smoke bombs as the players paraded the trophy through the streets. The parade came less than 24 hours after losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain.
But after a season in which they won the league for the first time since 2004 and reached two cup finals, Arsenal fans were still in full party mode. The women’s team were also part of the celebrations to mark their FIFA Women’s Champions Cup glory from February. The parade brought London to a standstill with tube and rail services extremely busy, with lengthy delays, cancellations and some stations such as Drayton Park closed all day.
The parade lasted two-and-a-half hours as Mikel Arteta‘s players celebrated their long-awaited major trophy with their jubilant supporters on the streets of Islington.
