Australian crowd’s Sabalenka feelings clear as boyfriend sent message | Tennis | Sport
Sabelenka is now preparing for another final in Melbourne, and plans to spend time with her boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis. She said during an on-court interview with Jelena Dokic: “Well, since I am on Season Two of Homeland, I guess that’s the plan for my boyfriend and me to finish at least season two.
“It’s been forever since we started watching that, and we’re only on season two! First of all, a little bit of heat, and then Netflix, and then maybe dinner with the team, and then I am ready to go.”
Sabalenka also spoke about reaching the final without losing a single set. She said: “I cannot believe that, honestly, that’s an incredible achievement, but the job is not done yet.
“I am super happy with the win, she’s such a tough opponent and was playing really incredible tennis throughout the whole week, and I am just super happy to be through this tough match. I’ve been watching her game. She was playing incredible against Mirra [Andreeva], against Coco [Gauff], overall, throughout the tournament.
“I thought I had to step in and put as much pressure as I could back on her, and I’m glad that the level was there today. I played great tennis, and am happy to get this win in straight sets.”
Dokic also asked Sabalenka to reflect on what her 10-year-old self would think of everything she has achieved in the sport. Sabalenka emotionally responded: “Oh, I don’t know, I’m sensitive right now.
“I think she would be just super proud that I was able to make it here. I would never have thought I would be able to, first of all, make it to the top ten, and secondly, be that consistent and play in such big arenas in front of you all, feeling your support.
“It’s just a dream life, and every day I am grateful for everything I have. I hope she would be proud of me.”
