Barclays £200 boost available for all – and some could get £600 | Personal Finance | Finance
Brits are being tempted with a cash bonus of up to £200, while wealthier customers could bag luxury rewards worth as much as £600 under a new Barclays offer.
The high street lender has unveiled two current account switching deals running from yesterday until August 27, 2026, as competition for customers intensifies. Anyone opening a standard Barclays current account and completing a full switch can receive a £200 cash payment, while those eligible for a Barclays Premier account can choose from a range of experiences worth up to £600.
The Premier offer includes Michelin-starred dining experiences, luxury hotel stays, premium tickets to sporting and entertainment events and family attraction passes.
To qualify for a Premier account, customers must either earn at least £75,000 a year, hold £100,000 or more in savings or investments with Barclays, or meet a combination of the two criteria.
Customers switching to a Premier account must open the account through the Barclays app, transfer at least two active direct debits and pay in a minimum of £4,000 within 30 days.
Those opting for the standard Barclays current account offer must also switch at least two active direct debits and pay in £2,000 within 30 days to receive the £200 bonus.
Barclays said the Premier rewards could include dining experiences at restaurants linked to celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, luxury overnight hotel stays, hospitality tickets for major sporting fixtures and concerts, or annual family entertainment passes.
The bank is also promoting additional perks for existing customers this summer. Premier customers can access rewards through Barclays Experiences, including complimentary drinks from Gail’s bakery, cinema offers, prize draws and entertainment giveaways.
Meanwhile, all eligible personal Barclays debit card holders can earn 5% cashback on fuel purchases at Tesco petrol stations until July 31, capped at £10 a month.
Gillean Dooney, Head of Current Accounts & Payments at Barclays UK, said: “We’re introducing two different switcher offers this summer – a £200 cash reward or a unique, experience-led offer.
“And it doesn’t stop there. For existing or new Barclays customers, there’s a wide range of perks to unlock, from weekly Barclays Experiences for Premier account holders through to practical savings like cashback on Tesco fuel available for all. It’s about offering meaningful value, with options to suit every customer.”
The offers are only available to new Barclays current account customers and exclude anyone who already held a Barclays Current or Premier Account before June 9, 2026, as well as customers who have previously taken advantage of a Barclays switching incentive.
Under the rules, all switches must be completed through the Current Account Switching Service, which transfers payments and closes the old account within seven working days.
