The UK boasts an abundance of stunning walking trails, yet sometimes it can be enjoyable to venture somewhere entirely new. And what better moment to do so than now, when nature is stirring from its long and freezing winter slumber, and flowers are beginning to bloom.
Should you visit ancient woodlands, you might also be fortunate enough to encounter some bluebells. These delightful and delicate flowers typically bloom from mid-April to mid-May, with the peak, most vivid “blue carpet” effect generally occurring during the final week of April and the opening week of May.
Now, one Birmingham-based family has sung the praises of a particular woodland walking trail, brimming with natural waterfalls and abundant blooming bluebells. And the finest aspect is that it’s suitable for the whole family, providing activities and facilities to cater for everyone.
Taking to TikTok, a user named ‘justhummyw’ regularly shares recommendations and ideas for family-friendly activities, with the majority situated near Birmingham.
In one clip, she enthusiastically praised the Nant Mill forest, which features trails boasting various waterfalls and bluebells to savour.

“Waterfall trail just over and hour from Birmingham,” the text on the video read as they went on to show clips from their time walking on the trail.
The footage showcased the numerous waterfalls of varying sizes, alongside expansive woodland areas blanketed in blossoming bluebells. Benches were also dotted throughout, allowing visitors to pause and soak up the breathtaking natural scenery surrounding them.
“Walk through a beautiful woodland and see multiple waterfalls. We visited during bluebell season, please tread gently,” they added in the caption of the post.
There is also a picnic area and play area situated next to the ancient woodland, alongside the River Clywedog. The renowned Nant Mill Waterfall can be found on the Clywedog Valley Trail, which meanders for 6.5 miles through breathtaking countryside.
The trail begins at Minera Lead Mines, passing through Nant Wood and Plas Power Wood, by Bersham Ironworks, Erddig Estate and continuing to King’s Mill in Wrexham.
Regarding parking, visitors can park at Minera Lead Mines and Country Park, as mentioned in the video. Alternatively, parking is available at Nant Mill car park, costing £1 per day, while Blue Badge holders may park for free in any space with no time restriction.

The caption also noted that the trail is pushchair friendly, with a visitor centre and toilet facilities available for guests. Wrexham County Borough Council further confirms that the trail welcomes dogs, provided they remain under control at all times and on a lead within the designated signposted areas.
On a sunny day, visitors can also take a refreshing dip in the waterfall, offering a delightful cooling experience that both children and adults are sure to enjoy.
People were quick to flock to the comment section to share their reactions, with many left thoroughly impressed by what they had witnessed in the video.
