British Grand Prix Sprint result as Lewis Hamilton beaten to win | F1 | Sport

• Lewis Hamilton, starting on pole, got off to a great start, holding off Kimi Antonelli who tried to make a move up the inside into the first corner but was blocked by the seven-time world champion.
• Max Verstappen had a poor start and slipped down to sixth, while Lando Norris briefly took second but couldn’t make a move stick on Norris.
• There were plenty of position swaps in quick succession as battery deployment seemed to vary wildly between teams.
• Hamilton and Antonelli were much quicker than the rest of the field, dropping everyone else by more than six seconds by the time the Italian teenager was positioned to attack for the lead.
• Hamilton defended well for a time but the decisive moment came when the battery in his Ferrari suddenly de-rated on a long straight and Antonelli was able to easily sweep by.
• It was a cruise to the finish line from there as Hamilton did not have the pace to respond to Antonelli in the final stages.
• Antonelli won by 2.7 seconds, extending that margin by setting the fastest lap of the entire Sprint on the very final lap as he hared towards the chequered flag.
