It’s going on four years since Emma Raducanu stunned the world by winning the US Open as a teenager, but since then, her career has had plenty of ups and downs. Injuries have been the biggest issue for the once teenage prodigy, who will now turn 24 later this year.

In a recent interview, Raducanu revealed she plans to play until she’s around 34, meaning, all things equal, she should still have plenty of chances to add a second Grand Slam title to her cabinet.

But what about this year? How much of a chance does Raducanu have of winning Wimbledon in 2026?

She came mightily close to a first-ever grass court title at Queen’s earlier this month, just losing out on the victory against Donna Vekic. Raducanu hasn’t played since then, and there have been some murmurs about an injury, but the 23-year-old did look back to her best at the tournament in London.

Raducanu could also do with a lengthy run at the Championships, given the three-time WTA finalist is defending a third-round appearance from last year’s tournament. By no means the most remarkable finish, but given Raducanu’s fitness woes in the early part of 2026, she has to start picking up ranking points consistently.

If Raducanu is to go the distance, she’ll have to overcome some significant hurdles early on. She’s been drawn against Antonia Ruzic in the opening round, which isn’t the worst outcome in the world, but a victory against the world No.60 and things start to get tricky.

Her most likely round two opponent will be Jeļena Ostapenko, with the former French Open star having been paired against wildcard entrant, Harriet Dart. That does mean there is a chance that there might be an all-British second round clash, but the chances look slim.

A win against Ostapenko for Raducanu, and it doesn’t exactly get any easier. That’s because in her mini-section of the draw is world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka, who knocked Raducanu out in the third round of Wimbledon last year.

Not ideal for Raducanu, who has also been put in the same quarter as Naomi Osaka, and recently-crowned French Open victor, Mirra Andreeva. Nobody said it would ever be easy!
