The Dallas Cowboys are owned by American billionaire entrepreneur Jerry Jones, who has held ownership since 1989.
Jones acquired the NFL franchise from philanthropist Bum Bright for $140 million (£104 million). Bright had owned the team between 1984 and 1989.
Beyond ownership, Jones serves as both president and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, while also being the controlling shareholder of the business. Prior to owning the franchise, Jones had a distinguished playing career of his own, serving as co-captain for the University of Arkansas’ 1964 national championship football team.

He subsequently ventured into oil drilling, retail and real estate investments across Dallas, Texas, amassing considerable wealth throughout the 1970s.
