US President Donald Trump appeared to fall asleep during 4th July celebrations, sparking a huge reaction online. President Trump commemorated the 250th anniversary of America’s independence on Saturday after storms prompted a roughly two-hour evacuation of the National Mall in Washington DC, with severe weather disrupting celebrations in several US cities.
But another storm was brewing after prominent Democrat Harry Sissons accused the 47th US president of “falling asleep” during celebrations. He said: “Trump seen falling asleep during the fireworks in DC for America’s 250th. Incredibly embarrassing and concerning.”
Meanwhile, journalist Aaron Rupar mocked the President, saying: “Trump ‘blinks’ during the fireworks show in DC.”
Trump, who celebrated his 80th birthday on June 14, is no stranger to allegations he was taken forty winks while in office.

Just a few days before his celebrated his 80th last month, Democrats claimed the Commander-in-Chief dozed off during a meeting in the Oval Office at the White House.
During an afternoon meeting about “clean coal”, Trump gave the floor to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. As the men spoke the president leaned back in his chair and seem to close his eyes for several moments.
Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom’s team declared, “DOZY DON IS BACK (HE NEVER LEFT)”. However the White was quick to fire back at critics. The Trump X account Rapid Response 47 wrote: “His eyes are literally open in the clip you posted, you dumba** mouth-breathers.”

Trump mixed partisan politics with patriotic appeals during his speech after the celebrations on Saturday which he declared “one of the most joyous and glorious milestones of all time”.
Speaking in Washington after storms prompted a roughly two-hour evacuation of the National Mall, Trump honoured veterans, including several from World War II and one of the first Black officers to lead a Special Forces team in combat in Vietnam.
They appeared before flags that symbolised some of the most significant and challenging moments in American history, from the one that was draped over Abraham Lincoln’s casket to the one that flew on the plane piloted by the Wright Brothers.
Trump said: “We will always be on top, we will never let our country fall. We will always be the best.”
Trump didn’t talk about himself as much as he does during his normal rally speeches. Still, he still found time to include a joke about seeking a third presidential term and about World War II’s “greatest generation.”
“They are the greatest generation,” Trump said, “I hate to admit that, but they are.”
