Donald Trump has been brutally torn apart by Democratic Congresswoman Yaasmin Ansari for his appearance at the 2026 World Cup final. The US President was front and centre to congratulate Spain for beating Argentina to the title, as he gave out medals to both sets of players following the final whistle.

But his presence did not end there and FIFA chief Gianni Infantino invited Trump to walk the prestigious trophy from the plinth to the platform, breaking tournament protocol, before lingering when Spain captain Rodri wanted to hold it aloft for the first time. Ansari, who has been an open critic of Trump since taking office representing Arizona’s third district last year, said: “Nobody wanted him there.”

“I love the World Cup,” she told Meidas Touch. “It showed us how much unites us as opposed to what divides us, and Donald Trump is the exact opposite of that.”

Ansari stressed that Trump didn’t just spoil the World Cup final trophy presentation. “He made the entire experience of having the World Cup hosted by the United States so difficult,” she added.

“We know that, for example, they made Iranian players travel in and out of the country. They were discriminated against. We had referees from Somalia not even be let into the country.”

Iran, who qualified from Asia, were forced to relocate their World Cup training base from Tempe, Arizona, to Tijuana, Mexico City. The squad would travel into the United States on match days, before departing immediately following the final whistle.

Somali referee Omar Artan was refused entry into the United States at a Florida airport despite being appointed by FIFA to officiate at the World Cup. Artan was not given a clear explanation for his denial of entry, and he subsequently returned to Somalia.

Earlier this year, Ansari branded Trump both “mentally unstable and an ” and an “evil human being” in an interview with The Guardian.

“There is no doubt in my mind he is mentally unstable and not all there, but I also believe he is a deeply troubled, evil human being that only cares about himself and his family,” she said.

“He has shown that throughout his entire life. He has shown that throughout his presidency by ripping away healthcare and basic necessities from the average American, while he and his family have made billions of dollars.”
