This is the dramatic moment the landing gear on a Lufthansa plane collapsed onto the tarmac at Frankfurt Airport. According to the reports, the incident happened tt Germany’s largest airport around 12:45 pm on Thursday.

The aircraft, flight number LH450, was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles. Initial reports suggest that the nose gear of a Lufthansa Boeing 787‑9 gave way while the aircraft was parked at the gate, causing the Dreamliner (registration D‑ABPQ) to pitch forward and suffer substantial damage to its front section.

A Lufthansa spokesperson told German Press Agency (dpa): “While parked, the aircraft’s nose landing gear unexpectedly collapsed. At the time of the incident, crew and ground staff were on board. Passengers had not yet boarded. Several employees were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.”

According to initial statements from Lufthansa, there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Both airport operator Fraport and Lufthansa confirmed the incident to the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation (hr). Lufthansa stated that it has established a crisis team and announced an official statement.

A Lufthansa spokesperson told The Express: “We can confirm that an incident involving a Lufthansa Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner occurred at Frankfurt Airport at 12:45 p.m. today. The flight was scheduled to depart as Flight LH450 to Los Angeles. While parked at a gate, the aircraft’s nose gear unexpectedly retracted.

“At the time of the incident, crew members and ground staff were on board. Passengers had not yet boarded. Several employees were injured and are currently receiving medical attention.

“We are currently investigating the exact circumstances together with the relevant authorities. Technicians and support staff are on site. We will provide further information as soon as it becomes available.”
