Emma Raducanu banks £14m despite French Open woes adding to wretched record | Tennis | Sport

Emma Raducanu has banked a whopping £14million from prize money and sponsorship deals in spite of her wretched recent form. The young Brit has spent most of her career chasing the high she experienced from winning the US Open five years ago. She has experienced a steady decline since then, having gone through several coaching partnerships and failing to win a title at any level.

However, despite her dreadful form, Raducanu continues to benefit from her status as one of the most marketable tennis stars on the planet.

Accounts for her company, Harbour 6, show assets including £13.4m in cash, while tax bills suggest that she earned £3m last year with £1.1m from her on-court income, according to The Sun.

That figure does not include the £152,000 she received from her run to the third round at Wimbledon last year.

Earlier this year, Raducanu signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Uniqlo, having previously been with Nike. The eight-year deal is thought to be worth an annual £2.6m, which works out at more than £20m overall.

Raducanu also has, or has had, lucrative sponsorship deals with the likes of British Airways, Porsche, Evian, Dior, Tiffany’s and Vodafone.

While she is winning off the court, her results on it have suffered badly due to her repeated injury setbacks, illnesses and failed coaching partnerships.

To be seeded, a player must be ranked within the world’s top 32 and with Raducanu currently out of that group, it’s likely she will miss out.

It means she will be at risk of a nightmare draw, with seedings protecting top players from facing each other in the early stages of a tournament.
