F1 LIVE: Lando Norris investigation as Charles Leclerc punished | F1 | Sport

The Miami Grand Prix has already thrown up plenty of drama, with Lando Norris being summoned by the stewards after claiming Sprint pole position. The McLaren star was investigated after an alleged failure to follow the Race Director’s instructions.

However, Norris, who is the first non-Mercedes driver to take pole this season, will remain first on the grid for Saturday’s Sprint race despite failing to stay below the required time limit when on turn 17 he was suddenly passed by Nico Hulkenberg in SQ2, forcing him to “create a necessary and appropriate gap to set up a push lap”.

The FIA confirmed in a statement that no further action would be taken. That was not the case for Ferrari‘s Charles Leclerc, however, with the Monegasque fined £172 after exceeding pit lane speed limit during the free practice session of the Miami GP.

Leclerc at least had a decent outcome from Sprint qualifying, finishing three places above team-mate Lewis Hamilton in fourth, behind the two McLaren drivers and Kimi Antonelli.
