French Open LIVE: Novak Djokovic teases Rafael Nadal comeback as British star hits out | Tennis | Sport

Novak Djokovic believes Rafael Nadal will be back at the French Open in 2025.

Nadal has been widely tipped to retire come the end of the year but has since made noises that he could continue after finding fitness in recent months.

The Spaniard has played in Barcelona, Madrid, Italy and now France without any major injury wobbles.

He was defeated by Alexander Zverev in the first round at Roland Garros, watched on by Djokovic, Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz. The Serb said it did not ‘appear’ to be Nadal’s last moment in Paris.

“It was great. Iga was there, Alcaraz was there, and we all wanted to get a glimpse of the atmosphere of that possibly unique moment that could be his last. But it doesn’t appear like that,” said Djokovic.

“Yeah, it looks like. I think he played very well. Even though he lost in straight sets, the second and third were really close. He could have easily won one of those two sets, and maybe the match was going in a different direction.”
