Genie Bouchard lands new job alongside John McEnroe on stacked French Open line-up | Tennis | Sport

TNT Sports has unveiled a star-studded lineup of pundits and commentators for their coverage of the upcoming French Open across the UK, US and Europe. Former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard will be part of the team for the first time following her retirement last year. The Canadian joins John McEnroe, who will continue to provide match and studio analysis.

Andre Agassi will return for semi-finals and finals coverage after joining TNT Sports’ team last year. Lindsay Davenport, Caroline Wozniacki, Chris Eubanks, Sloane Stephens, CoCo Vandeweghe, Sam Querrey and Mary Joe Fernandez will also be part of the team.

Meanwhile, John Isner is set to “make appearances throughout the tournament, offering real-time analysis shaped by his recent experience competing at the highest level.”

And seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams is expected to be in the studio this year from the quarter-final stage onwards. She made her debut for the broadcaster during last year’s French Open, appearing in pre-recorded clips.

The 45-year-old tennis icon is still hoping to feature in the main draw, however. At the recent Madrid Open, Williams explained: “I mean, to get my feet dirty, this was a great start. I’m not able to play Rome, I have other commitments, unfortunately, so I’m really super sad about that, actually. My husband is Italian, so we feel sad that we can’t be there. So we would love to keep it going on the clay.”

It remains to be seen whether Williams receives a wildcard into the French Open, but she is expected to be in Paris regardless, for her new duties with TNT Sports. The broadcaster said the former world No. 1 would be a “special guest contributing to tournament coverage during the quarter-finals, semi-finals and women’s final.”

British Billie Jean King Cup captain Anne Keothavong will join commentators Nick Mullins, Naomi Cavaday and Miles Maclagan. And Alex Aljoe will swap the football pitch for the tennis court as she joins as an on-site reporter.
