Harry Kane price tag as Man Utd face paying world-record transfer fee | Football | Sport

Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeness has attempted to deter potential suitors by insisting Harry Kane is valued at over £200million. Kane has been in extraordinary form this campaign, netting 48 goals in 40 appearances for Bayern and is drawing interest from competing clubs. The England captain has been associated with Barcelona, alongside Saudi Pro League outfits, and has previously been linked with Manchester United.

Kane’s existing contract is set to run until June 2027. His release clause fell to a modest £57m in January as he moved into the final 18 months of his agreement. However, for that fee to materialise this summer, Kane would have needed to notify Bayern of his desire to depart before the conclusion of January. The 32-year-old chose not to, and Hoeness maintains that he is staying put.

He told Kicker: “[Kane] didn’t exercise his release clause, which means he’s definitely under contract here until summer 2027.

“What I’m hearing and feeling is that he and his family feel extremely comfortable here. You never know when a Saudi comes along and puts a lot of money on the table, but he feels very much at home.”

Hoeness continued: “I’d say Harry Kane is worth €150m (£130m). But then you see Alexander Isak cost €150m to Liverpool. If Isak is worth 150 million, then Harry is worth €250m (£217m).”

It suggests that United or any other club would have to break the world-record transfer fee to sign Kane this summer.

The current record was set when Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona in a deal worth £200m in the summer of 2017.

Kane is in remarkable form in front of goal and now boasts 133 goals in just 136 games since swapping Tottenham for Bayern in 2023.

He has repeatedly spoken of his happiness in Bavaria and recently dismissed suggestions from a Barcelona presidential candidate that he had engaged in discussions about a move to La Liga.

“I haven’t heard anything about it,” said Kane. “My father and brother handle everything, but they haven’t said anything to me.

“As I’ve already said, I’m very happy here at Bayern. I’m focused on this season and my time at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.”

Bayern are eager to secure Kane on a further contract, which could see him pocket £400,000 per week. Outwardly, the club are projecting a composed confidence about the matter.

“He still has a year-and-a-half left on his contract,” Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said recently. “He feels extremely comfortable here. We’re not stressing about it.

“He should continue as he is and continue to feel so comfortable with his family in Munich. Then he can stay in Munich for a long time.”
