A 16-year-old girl was lured from her home and raped over three days after being trapped in a hotel. The horror incident is alleged to have happened in the city of Lucknow, in northern India.

According to local police, the teenager went missing on July 17, and when her family traced her, she told them she had been held against her will at a hotel.

Local Indian media reports police learnt that two suspects had lured the girl away from her home. Five people, including two women and a 70-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the girl’s disappearance and remain in custody.

The accused include 26-year-old Durgesh Rawat and his wife Khushboo, aged 23, alongside Vinod Rawat, 20, and his wife 18-year-old Rabia.

Durgesh and Kushboo are said to have initially lured the teenager away, before Rabia and Vindo took her to the hotel.

It’s reported Rabia introduced the child to Dwarika Raidas, aged 70, who then repeatedly raped her during her confinement.

The Times of India reports the girl gave a statement to the Mohanlalganj Police who registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The three men and two women were arrested in Puranpur village, near Kisanpath, on the outskirts of Lucknow.

Police said Durgesh, Khushboo and Vindo are accused of conspiring to lure and abduct a minor, while Rabia is accused of arranging the stay at the hotel to facilitate a sexual assault.

Dwarika is accused of repeatedly raping the girl during her detention at the hotel.

All of the accused are due to appear before a court and were remanded in custody.
