Horror as teen, 15, dressed as clown ‘stabs pensioner to death’ after door cam message | World | News
A teenage boy dressed as a clown allegedly murdered a pensioner after whispering sinister messages into a Ring doorbell. The suspect, 15, was arrested following the death of 76-year-old John Wesley Allen Senior.
The pensioner was reportedly stabbed several times before being found lying outside his home. It has since been revealed that the teenage suspect was spotted earlier on the day of the reported murder dressed as a clown. Meanwhile, doorbell footage posted on social media showed him outside of the victim’s home around an hour before police were called. He reportedly left a message saying: “I’ve been looking for you.”
Police were called to the scene in East St. Louis, Illinois, USA, at around 10pm local time on Monday (4am on Tuesday in the UK). They arrived to find Mr Allen lying near or in the roadway outside of his home, with a coroner ruling that he had died from multiple stab wounds.
The teenager was arrested by the Illinois State Police on Tuesday afternoon (August 4). It has since been revealed that he was spotted earlier on Monday in the area dressed as a clown, while doorbell footage shows him whispering sinister messages to the victim.
Lee Palmer told First Alert 4 that his mother, who also lives in the area, was at home alone when the clown appeared on their front porch. The person allegedly lingered on the property for several minutes before moving on.
Palmer explained: “I couldn’t believe it. He was dressed in a clown outfit. That was kind of spooky for her.” He also said he was worried the clown was going to “kill everyone in the house”.
Police have confirmed a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the murder of Mr Allen. Investigating officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with relevant doorbell footage.
The force said: “Video footage of the suspect dressed in a clown costume has been circulating, and ISP is currently working to collect all relevant video.”
