Horror moment girl, 6, is swept out of doorway while in her crib as strong winds hit | World | News

This is the terrifying moment a six-year-old girl was blown out of a doorway while lying on her bed after powerful winds brought by a typhoon struck the area. The girl was reportedly playing in a crib inside her family’s convenience store, when a sudden gust struck on Saturday afternoon, blowing the doors open.

Two younger children were also inside the shop in Shenzhen, China, when the typhoon hit. One was sitting in a pushchair, while the third was playing on the floor, according to local media. Only the eldest child was swept outside, and no injuries were reported. Shocking CCTV footage shows the six-year-old girl being swept out of a shop by powerful winds, across the tarmac and onto a nearby grassy verge.

The force of the gusts flipped her crib over, throwing her onto the ground while the bed itself was carried away and vanished from sight.

Their father later told local media the gust had struck without warning, leaving the adults unable to reach their eldest child before she was blown out of the shop.

After sharing the CCTV footage online, he said: “We never expected it to attract so much attention.”

Typhoon Hóngxiá made landfall near Pinghai Ancient City at about 3:50 a.m. on July 26, after its outer rainbands and powerful winds had already battered Shenzhen.

The storm struck with maximum sustained winds of around 45 metres per second (101 mph) near its centre, bringing dangerous conditions across the region.

Huge waves pounded the coastline while torrential rain and violent gusts swept through streets, causing widespread damage.

Trees were uprooted, advertising signs were torn down or left dangerously tilted, streetlights snapped, basketball hoops were blown over, and roads were littered with fallen branches and debris left in the typhoon’s wake.
