How to watch the Indy 500: TV channel, live stream and start time
Everything you need to know about watching the Indy 500
- Race start time: The highly anticipated 110th running of the historic race takes place on Sunday, May 24. The green flag is set to drop to signal the start of the racing action at 5.30pm BST.
- UK TV channel: Motorsport fans in the United Kingdom can watch the entire main event live on Sky Sports Mix, not Sky Sports F1, which will be showing the Canadian Grand Prix from Montreal later in the day. The network’s dedicated pre-race build-up and analysis begins at 3.50pm.
- Streaming with Sky Sports: Subscribers who want to watch the action away from their main television screen can access a live stream via the Sky Go app. Alternatively, the broadcast can be accessed on laptops and desktop browsers on the Sky Sports website.
- Alternative streaming options: Non-Sky customers can still watch the race online via the Sky-owned NOW service. Daily and monthly passes are available from £14.99.
- British hopes: The UK will be represented by three drivers, Louis Foster, Katherine Legge and Jack Harvey. Foster is competing for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. After a strong 12th-place finish last year, he secured a 21st-place starting spot on the grid for this race. The experienced Legge – the only woman in the race – is driving for HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing, starting from 26th position. Finally, Harvey, driving for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, qualified 29th before a post-qualifying technical infringement relegated him to the back of the 33-car field.
- Main contenders: The defending Indy 500 winner, reigning IndyCar champion and pole-sitter, Alex Palou, enters the iconic race as a major favourite. However, he will face pressure from formidable rivals such as Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas and Christian Lundgaard, who have all shown immense pace this season.
- Team Penske threat: One can never count out the powerful Penske team, led by two-time winner Josef Newgarden. The American superstar is desperate to claw his way up the championship standings and always finds a way to excel on this massive stage.
- Double-header: This legendary American race begins a spectacular double-header Sunday for motorsport fans. The Indy 500 should wrap up just in time for viewers to transition over to the Canadian Grand Prix, which starts at 9pm UK time.
